Tax Ruling Overturn

The Australia tax Office has had a win in its push to outlaw tax deductions for agricultural investment schemes after an appeal court court overturned an earlier decision saying that they could constitute a "serious commercial venture".
The Full Federal Court has ruled that Perth accountant Gino Lenzo's $30,000 investment in a tax-effective plan to grow Indian sandalwood between 1998 and 2000 had the main purpose of avoiding tax.
This overturned an earlier decision of the Federal Court judge Robert French, who said the investment's main purpose was not to avoid tax. ...
