I wouldn't be surprised to hear different opinions (trader v investor eg ) but having asked an accountant a while back, the idea was the next day. Reason being " market risk ".
Apparently, the Tax Office takes a dim view of selling and buying back just to crystallize a loss.
I did see an article one time from the InvestmentU site that the Yanks have a 30 day period for a Wash Sale.
Interested to hear other opinions.
Meanwhile, the first Nexus shares I bought were 21 cents a long time ago. Sold them for much more and rebought recently. Looking forward to a repeat.
