The taxes on booze, smoking and gambling is designed to act as a disincetive to these activities. None of them are required for survival, they are all luxury items and we would be better off without them.
Tax them to the point of pain, I have no issue with that. Yes, my pint costs more, but I cut down. My weight has gone down, my health has improved.
Tax on things like massive billions earned by mining companies - sure increase them. Tax on the religous institutions - yep.
The things that I see that benfits people like health, welfare and education? I really like seeing those - I feel proud of our society. bring it on.
