    To the OP, how can that $1000 be a capital gain if you haven’t made any capital gain, that must be all dividends distribution, which would make sense at 4%?

    To the second poster, why would any fund let the tax responsibility be transferred to remaining holders, if that’s the case it would be a race to the exit on all managed funds so that you have to pay as little tax as possible towards the end of the financial year, surely they must withhold the applicable taxes for any member that withdraws funds to balance he books at year end and make it level across the board.......
