The future of how power is generated in terms of replacing fossil fuels is very debateable in the context of how it will be done to 'save the planet', and it will take time, probably a lot.
Meanwhile, this thread was generated to urge people to petition the Gov to desist with the subsidising of the fossil fuel industry.
To this end I have spoken with my good mate Wayne, and he has said, "I'm hearin ya, I'll take care of it with this budget...musn't forget why we were elected"!
Resultantly, from the 1st June 2008, all power consumption bills will increase by approximately 238%, increasing monthly by 12% to a cap of 400% over todays prices. In twelve months time, the situation will be reviewed in light of any developments in alternative power sources.
Further, from the 1st June 2008, petrol will increase to around $3.27/litre at the pump, and similarly, after twelve months we will be reviewing Industry's capacity to provide an alternative power source!
