The Greens have warned the state government not to link Gunns' proposed Tamar Valley pulp mill to Tasmania's forest peace deal.
Premier Lara Giddings has reportedly linked approval for the mill to a resolution in the forest peace talks being mediated by former union boss Bill Kelty.
Greens leader Nick McKim says his party will never support the pulp mill proposal and the issues must remain separate.
"That pulp mill wasn't mentioned in the agreement between ENGO's, unions and some sectors of the timber industry in Tasmania and that pulp mill should stay outside that process."
