Well if you look at ABS stats, the unemployment ones, make sure you look at long termed unemployment and check out the ages given.

Most long term unemployed are over 50 and have been out of work for more than 12 months. I am not sure what you do in construction but most bricklayers I know and those who do hard hard work like digging and climbing (rather than the machine does all the work) are buggered by their mid 50s. My dad was a carpenter by the way.

As for me princess, I have never been on the dole, am transitioning to retirement, and have paid just as much tax as you are whinging about on this thread since before transitioning as I was on the top tax rate (and was there for over 10 years) and I ain't complaining.
