I’m so very sorry for your sister & your family, and it’s just incredulous for people that evacuation of an evacuation centre (Surf Club) was evacuated to the beach as even that caught on fire on the South Coast too. Then Eden too!!

Rosedale is a beautiful place, we know it well. It’s not just a matter of rebuilding, there is also the trauma Of losing everything for people going through these experiences & the lucky ones are those that have supportive families & friends. Some don’t, & possibly thinking they may die. I’m sure some will suffer PTSD from this.

That same fire (Currowan) ripped up to the Southern Highlands on Sat night, these were spot fires with massive wind gusts that really did get ahead of what was expected by RFS. The main fire front hasn’t hit yet, now called the Morton fire.

I woke with wind & ash falling here (Green Wattle Creek Fire), at 10pm turned the scanner on thinking maybe I should stay up & watch for any embers & listen for spotting, then heard terrible things were really hitting the fan in Wingello, houses being evacuated & to get the warning out from guys on the ground & then spot fires in Bundanoon & rang my parents & Aunt to get out ASAP. Knowing those winds were coming, we had said please leave in the afternoon, but you can understand why they didn’t.

My 99yo Nanna with moderate dementia lives in the local nursing home there...she refused to get on the bus when they had evacuated all residents days earlier, so my Aunt took her home to care for her. She was the only one who wouldn’t go, that’s ok.

Anyway, this was scary enough for all, they will be out early in future, they had a heads up from scanner app I had sent (and posted here) & my phone call prior to Emergency warning (too late to leave).

They were stuck in car & camper van, escorted through fire on the only road out over an hour later. I was listening to it all on the Scanner, it made my blood run cold. This news video shows a little, the RFS put out part of the fires by then to get them through.

The stroke victim is my Mum & 100yo my Nan (she actually does turn 100yo very soon), travelling in 2 seperate vehicles, but together:

Yes, my house is an evac centre, at least we have one to offer .

We only cared about lives at this point & so does the RFS in some situations, property protection can’t always happen, including their own.

Now they will have so many more “Appliances” with all these Celeb donations & Govt attention. I’m not interested in discussing politics, it’s people affected that matter.

Looking like Friday again or even tomorrow Evac again, better start cooking to feed everyone. Better than being ‘cooked’ humans.

Sorry for the OT people, @dyeman is a LT holder & a very decent person. I hope his Sister is OK. I wasn’t joking when saying it’s like Russian roulette with evacuations.
