I think they've gone from announcing too much ( and encouraging speculators ) to announcing too little, but that's the way of it.
Now it seems we need to read between the lines a bit more. The Montara sands for example...if LWD didn't detect HC, I doubt they'd have spent the time/$ to take a core sample of it...probably.
I think more info would be better, because now, if you know someone, and they even say something fairly mild like "it's looking good", you have significantly more info than has been released to market.
