As someone who has lived long enough to see the waves of migrants that have come to Australia. It seems to me that the earlier migrants (in general) wanted to become Australians and were proud to call themselves Aussies.
The current wave only appears to be interested in a better life, more money, and more benefits and could not care less about the cultural aspects of life in Australia or to become a “bronzed” aussie.
In their defense many of them come from countries where it is essential to push to the front on the basis of you are either “the quick or the dead”
Under the present system of immigration and illegal’s the numbers are too high to teach the Australian ethos to the new arrivals so we will have to accept that the Australia that we knew has now gone and cannot be brought back
