The idea of leaving footprints on the seat, or in fact actually squatting with your feet on the seat has been going around since I was a kid at least, nothing new about it. It was in my day called "Kangarooing" or one might say "Kangarooing the seat"
There was an old ditty something to the effect,

No use Kangarooing upon the seat as a good (fill in your high school, tech, uni, work place, etc)
As a good --------------- crab can jump six feet.
