Where the blazes do you get your misunderstanding of what teachers do? Most teachers work 10-12 hrs/day and often enough are required to work Saturdays as well. Even their so-called 12 wks leave is wrong db.

Teachers are also more often assaulted than nurses, doctors, ambos or police. Their legal situation, especially if a male teacher, is fraught with abuse and risk of litigation, especially from parents that want blame someone for their own poor parenting skills.

Lastly - why are they so special? Because they are helping more than any other profession to educate the minds of the future leaders and creators of the solutions to the problems we have created. They have a most demanding job and get so little respect for what they do.
