I guess the point of my previous post was to say that 4DX and Technegas are not competing products.
VQ scans will have a use whenever the contraindications (pregnancy, kidney disease, allergy) appear in a patient.
I've done very little research on 4DX but current CT scans for assessing PE have about a 98% successful diagnosis rate. 4DX uses fluroscopy which would deliver a signinficantly higher dose to the patient for what I would imagine is a fairly similar outcome to current tech. I wouldn't expect it to have widespread adoption until it has more applications to justify its use.
Justification of dose to patient is a pillar of radiation protection principles. Radiation safety agencies take it pretty seriously if you're found to be giving your patients a dose of radiation unecessarily.
