My experience has been that technical analysis will be right often enough to get you into trouble when its wrong, whereas fundamental analysis will be wrong often enough to pass you by when it is right. When i was actively trading i would only use TA, because the best return i got was on lots of smaller positions and a positively weighted success rate. But the most money i ever made with the least risk and exposure was when i bought just a couple of fundamentally underpriced companies (mostly after the gfc) and sat on them until they were eventually overpriced.
These days i tend to think that if you want to be ahead of the market, you have to understand and utilize both, but also know when to ignore them in good measure. And more importantly than both, keep your ear to the ground. Always.
