    John R,
I bought my Edwards & Magee ( the bible of T/A) in 1975
The original edition was written in 1948

    Mine is the fifth edition.

Back then there were no computers, so it is somewhat dated in todays tech age.
Nonetheless the information back then re pattern recognition etc still applies today.

Maybe now there is an updated version using all the computer bells & whistles.

The Daryl Guppy books are all good and not too expensive
    Around $30 each.
My claim to fame is after I read his 1st book "Share Trading" another bloke & I contacted Daryl and arranged for him to come from Katherine where he was living at the time, picked him up at the airport and he conducted a seminar for the Australian Technical Anaysts Association in Melbourne.
Kick started his career as a speaker.

    Share Trading
Trading Tactics ( in which I get a mention LOL)
    Chart Trading
are 3 or a number of books he has written which are worth reading

    Alexander Elders books

"Trading for a Living" together with the separate study guide
    and
    "Come into my trading room"
are both worthwhile, although a bit more expensive than Guppys books

Then you need to get your head around it....
But thats a whole new topic... ..(:>)

    Good luck with you endeavours

    Cheers

    Bendigo
