BENDIGO that was a fantastic post by some one who has had almost a life time of experience in the game and it would appear has operated very successfully, I am sure all will be most appreciative and learn a good deal from it.

the Bendigo gold mine experience, I can understand how you programmed your brain into believing nothing else except that it was a goer...a similar thing happened to me a good while back - I was $70,00O up on a very generous takeover offer for a small oil company operating in the US... the price started retreating, but I ignored it justifying to myself that the prospective buyer would not go to all this trouble if he was not serious... the offer was also conditional on the price of oil, and the $A both of which were gyrating visciously at the time... the process became delayed and the SP slipped back to the original share price... the prospective purchaser was unable to gain finance but was able to escape due to favourable movements of the price of oil and the exchange rate . I sold for just a little over the buy price letting all that money slip through my fingers.

my success over the past 12 years or so has been more moderate, because I guess I just a very slow learner.

like yourself I have been very much fixed on fundamental analysis but also using the charts... about this time last year, as a result of the large drop in interest rates I reasoned that the banks were a no brainer and had a good percentage invested in them, they did very well until the taper talk started, and then they slid back close to my buy price.... they were supposed to be a long term buy for all sorts of reasons, how could they do this to me ?

over the last three months I taken an interest in this area hoping to use my fundamental skills in reverse. I am taking a little time to adjust here honing up on TA skills, and also getting some excellent advise from some of the others on this site... part of the reason here is the current sideways choppy movement.

your definitely right about the site BENDIGO, it seems to have developed a team ethic where each of us wants to pitch in for the geater good... the enthusiasm, and also very friendly nature on this site seems to be attracting more and more contributers - which is great.

    gk.
