If it’s not franked it’s a waste of money for local investors because u lose approx a third in tax. I would much rather see a buyback that theoretically would see the SP appreciate by that amount ie 10% buyback 10% SP appreciation..but it also has the benefit of reducing liquidity and making it harder for very shortermers to trade pips..
If you hold for longer over 12 mths your capital gains tax reduces by half and you are well in front compared to the 35% u lose on the divvie..
