The people who pre-purchased a printer through the Kickstarter program are getting a better machine than first envisaged. The current machine prints in three modes (no other 3D metal printer in the world does that). For cost price they are going to receive a $50,000 printer that competes with competitor machines that start at US$100K all the way up to US$500K.
Note Professor Sercombe's comments in this article. He has been involved in the 3D space for a long time. He would not be quoted as saying A3D is at the forefront of 3D printing globally lightly. In other words, in terms of the technology, A3D is the world leader. That's a very strong endorsement.
