Now that the HF is approaching fast. I will post on a few little noted ERG facts.

ERG is changing its OS for bus devices. Previously ERG had a proprietary system. While this was very good at what it did, it was dated. So ERG management had the choice of rewriting the OS so as to avail itself of the capabilities of new technologies like NFC or switch to a generic OS. ERG has chosen LINUX. In a big switchover like this it is to be expected there would be glitches. But interestingly in SF they were hardware glitches not software.

With LINUX each current bus device can host and operate multiple applications:
• Ticketing
• Interfacing with Mobile and Credit/Debit cards
• GPS location
• In vehicle video
• Car parking
• Tolling
• Retail schemes
• Community card schemes…viz Community Access Card (Federal govt) and Pokies Scards, South Australia
This gives the Customer greater command over the operation and much more flexibility.
There is a lot more to ERG than meets the eye.
