No, it's nonsense. The amount of gold China can buy without tipping the market is very small. The US dollar will be here for a while. I think China has a policy of buying up the equivalent quantity as what has been produced within China that year, and no more.
Gold is fiat money. It only has value because governments historically have liked it, and have accepted it in payment of debts.
