    Do you think that they only put it on their Chips?

    The trade in salt was the equivalent to modern day petroleum products.
    Salt gave the world, back then-

    A means to preserve food, without which many populations would of been significantly smaller.
    What about the process of tanning leather?
    Salt was a major component in that process.

    If you thought about it a bit you may understand how important it was to the planet/populations we see today?
