Absolutely, but I was looking more to the big picture, rather than the magical little world of man made religion.
I think if we were visited by aliens it might throw this planet into a very serious spin. Religions as they stand would be so challenged they may become irrelevant.
They would probably make some claim of a Satanic visitation until the improbability of their position became obvious.
However, it does not in a bigger sense eliminate the hypothesis of a God. What it does is begin to make clearer that humans are not the centre of the universe after all.
As I've mentioned, the Bahai writings speak of a universe teaming with life, each uniquely adapted to their environment and other sentient beings.
So perhaps not all religions would fold. We may end up with a new cargo cult bwcause humans se to need religion more than it needs them.
