I don't know why people believe what they do, one would think it impossible to pitch a religion like that, but there they are with their bright and shiny faces.
Who could believe that the likes of L Ron could set up a religion with the utter nonsense he produced and it us now run by a truly evil dwarf and I don't mean Tom Cruise, I mean the other one. Or Koresh, Jones, Applewhite, or that the Catholic church has not been deregistered after their wholesale child abuse, or that before an act of indiscriminant slaughter some blood lusting lunatic can scream out, "God is great", that people are beheaded for the love of Allah, that educated humans still read Genesis as literal, but there you go, it's sanctioned insanity with a tax break.
The truly amazing thing is that any of these religions would dare to claim to represent God on earth as His chosen religion of the only truth.
