    I’ve watched this thread and I am struggling to understand your definition of barter. It is as if you are simply determined to link it somehow to money. At least I think that is what you are saying. For the most part you just keep disagreeing with anyone else’s historical perspective which suggests that bartering has existed either alongside of independent of money.

    it is not even that clear whether you see money as different concept to currency.

    there are historical records that suggest that currency might take many forms - cowrie shells was one.

    Humpty Dumpty summed up what appears to be the problem very nicely -
