Qwest Communications International rose 61 cents (7.8%) to $8.40. The phone company posted a profit in the second quarter compared to a year ago loss, amid cost cuts and strong sales of high speed Internet connections.
Dutch telecommunications operator KPN jumped 5.6% after raising its outlook for the year. The company also reported second quarter profit that more than doubled to EUR464m ($591m), up from EUR230m a year earlier.
Globe Telecom raises cash dividend to P30 per share following strong half year performance.
