We've been on the Do Not Call register since its inception. Anyone you are already doing business with, eg Telstra, Optus, insurance companies, charities, are obviously still allowed to contact you.
If any other company phones you, or even those you already do business with and you don't want their marketing calls, just ask them to "please remove your details from their contact list". They have to do what you request. I'd say we've had 1 call in the past six months and we always ask to be removed from their list. (Ask them for their name and contact number so you can record it - that works wonders!)
