Great question though - I'd be very interested in the views of those who place some store in volume. Volt, Treggs and Farsight might contradict me?

I admit volume makes an impact on me when big parcels are traded - yesterday I make comment about several 100k parcels of BHP sold (about $3.6M worth each) and often when a stock has a parabolic run up or down the volume is huge. Volume can make me sit up and take notice but to be more precise in my response I should have said volume's significance is over-rated and I don't make any trading decisions which are influenced in any way by volume (as long as the security has sufficient liquidity to be tradeable of course.)
