Newcrest hasn't been saying much in detail, so it seems not everything is so straightforward.
I'm trying to look at it from a wide perspective, Newcrest paid $4 billion for the Bruce Jack mine this year. It's a good mine with some real high-grade gold, but the output is around 350,000 oz pa for next 10 years. If NCM combined Minyari with Havieron for 6Mtpa operation, the gold output would be greater than Bruce Jack mine. And Minyari & Havieron also has copper credits, which Bruce Jack doesn't have.
So, that's what I think the logical step by NCM would be. But as stated by some posters here, it appears it's not an easy task to start up mining at Havieron for various factors.
