    It's not a matter of bashing Telstra I've said previously on here I've avoided the sector like the plague due to government meddling.

    If the government had mates in the telco sector like they do with oil, gas and old media I reckon my annual gas and electricity bills would be $600 each (instead of $1,500 each, my annual mobile bill would be $600 (instead of $200) and the Telstra share price would be $20 (instead of $2.80).

    Instead, the ACCC is continually at the throat of all telcos (which is great for me as a consumer) but when it comes to gas and electricity the gouging is endless and protected by government.

    Both energy and telecommunications policy in this country is mangled but the difference is that telco competition is brutal whereas energy companies are effective monopolies. The system has been designed this way.
