From what I can see, and I know nothing, Telstra are laughing ! Being given 11B$ for all their old copper & cable-ways. The Government is playing, come in sucker, & buying all Telstra's old technology, what an off-load !!!
It's 2011 now & they have 4G technology, what will they have in another 5yrs 6G+ ??
AND NBN will still not be finished.....
Ok wireless has some restrictions, but I'm sure time will work that out, meanwhile our tax payer money is being wasted on fibre-to-the-home... and we've learnt nothing, as the government is building another big fat monopoly. I just don't understand.
Now Telstra will have $11B to upgrade & widen their 4,5,6G+ systems, goodluck to them....
So Telstra cannot sell their system in opposition to the NBN. They won't have to, the system will sell itself..... Cheaper, much more flexible, and probably as fast.
Like I said, I know nothing, but imo it seems to me Telstra are the winners and the Tax payer the loser.
