Telstra's move into energy marks a new phase

Two weeks ago, buried under a pile of momentous announcements about its new corporate structure, Telstra let slip an intriguing nugget of news: it will become an energy retailer.
The announcement was linked to Telstra's reinvention of itself as Australia's greenest blue chip. Earlier this year the telecoms giant went carbon neutral, with the biggest carbon offset buying spree in Australian corporate history and a number of power purchase agreements from renewable energy generators.
