Wallstreeter, thanks for a great posting and you are so right about the Australian media. The very shoddy reporting we get in Australia is due to the fact that most journalists are very heavy on opinion and very light on analytical facts.We also have very little or no real quality debate. None of our media has anything like the informative, well presented, televised discussion forums/debates that exist in Europe, the UK , Canada , and the USA. Consequently , at any one time the pulic is generally uninformed . After Bob Hawke left politics he said "Australian journalists are the laziest in the world".He was not wrong. Finally, in addition to what you said, Sol had to make up for, and turn around years of poor service,mediocre management, and under-investment in new technologies, not to mention decades of political interference. They say if you dont understand history,...you are destined to repeat it.Thats about where we are now. Occam
