Yeah, fits in with all the stuff weve got on the Insulation debacle, last nights ABC insider is latest.

The insider claims that people within the department tried to warn their superiors about the safety risks including the danger of electrocution and fires, based on knowledge workers had been killed under a home insulation program in New Zealand.
We were told many times by senior management that the technical and safety issues were of less importance than getting this program up and running and creating jobs, the insider says.

There was no way of knowing whether a house had foil insulation or any material installed safely, and because the installers were not trained properly, there was no way of checking that installers actually knew what they were doing.There was no way to be sure that they were doing the insulation safely and correctly.

The father of Matthew Fuller, a 25-year-old killed while installing insulation under the scheme, said he could not understand how the government could have repeated the same mistakes made previously in New Zealand which rolled out a program there in 2007.

The program also claims the Insulation Council of Australia and New Zealand had raised the New Zealand deaths with bureaucrats from the Environment Department and the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet in February last year, well before the full rollout of the program on July 1.
