Welcome to 2024, where the US debt now exceeds US$34,000,000,000,000, or $100,000 per citizen, or $264,000 per taxpayer. Out of curiosity, I calculated the amount of gold one could buy for this money (US$34T), assuming the purchase would not affect price (yes, the scenario where supply/demand equation does not work). I concluded that this would be an equivalent of 513,370 metric tons, which is 3 times more than the estimated figure for all the gold in the world. And this is just the national debt of one country. It reaffirmed my views on investing in gold and silver.
