    To combat the right, the left must adopt right tactics, but then they become part of the right. That's the quandary of the left. So they can't succeed without a natural drifting to the left of popular attitudes, which is why the right has been so active propagandising the past few decades to get where they are. Now, the excesses and mistakes of Bush's amateur administration is creating the opportunity for the left to drift back into favour.

    I loved snooker's ten points - they illustrated the shallow thinking of the right. Almost like they were constructed as a subtle take-off of the right - a parody.

    But the right is incapable of subtlety.
