Research into the nature and history of the books of the bible is not a matter of deception. It is quite clear that the writers of the OT borrowed stories from older religions and cultures and adapted them to suit the needs of their own religion and culture. As did St Paul, borrowing from Greek philosophy almost verbatim to flesh out his own work.
