An important point that seems to keep being forgotten is that the whole fiasco started with an "error due to a switch in
samples in the laboratory. This included a key reading of 84ppb of benzene at the edge of the pilot plant area and a reading of 3ppb toluene at a bore approximately 1 km from the
plant site. Both of these readings were in fact zero."
Refer to announcement of 28/7/10. This error was in turn acknowledged by DERM and the readings were deemed invalid.
It was of course all the ammo Dotty Pratt needed though. Why let the truth get in the way of a good story?
