Hear, hear rick. Your point is absolutely pivotal, and we should all be hammering it home in any contact we can succeed in making with journalists now. The whole fiasco (as you put it) did indeed start with this glorious excuse for getting stuck into Cougar. It's like a motorist being booked for speeding and the police admitting that the radar was faulty but then going ahead and issuing the ticket anyway.
Along with everything else - 'pollutant' (benzene) levels at the limits of detectability, a so-called 'independent scientific' review panel that was neither independent (attending town hall meeetings organised by the antagonists was demonstrably partisan) nor scientific (had no specific expertise in the matter under review) - it's that ridiculous! The blatant political agenda underlying the whole fiasco is enough to make a cat laugh, and we need to get that message out.
