Mariana uncovers further bonanza gold grades from Calandria Norte.

Calandria Norte, which is part of the Las Calandrias Project in the Deseado Massif gold-silver district in Southern Argentina. Mariana Resources (LON:MARL) this morning unveiled yet more encouraging drilling results from Calandria Norte in Argentina.

It said four of the 16 latest infill holes hit bonanza grades of gold and silver.

The best result came from an 11.5 metre intersection, which contained gold at an estimated grade of 10.5 grams per tonne and 53 grams of silver per tonne of silver over 85 metres.

Another 12 metre section contained 8 grams of gold, while a 600 millimetre section weighed in with an estimated 123 grams of the precious metal.

Chairman John Horsburgh said: "These results indicate resource potential at Calandria Norte with further exploratory and infill drilling planned."

Shallow scout drilling of a covered target north of La Calandria, meanwhile, has discovered the La Morena Vein where an 800 millimetre section yielded 12 grams of gold per tonne and 32 grams of sliver over an 89.7 metre section.

At the same time assays are pending from another 11 Calandria Norte holes, while two rigs are testing new induced polarisation targets in the El Nido area with first results expected February 2011.

Mariana has drilled 53 for a total of 7,706 metres at Calandria Norte, which is part of the Las Calandrias project in the Deseado Massif gold-silver district in Southern Argentina.

The last programme in 2010 consisted of 44 holes for a total of 6,175 metres. Of these, 22 were at the La Calandria Vein, seven at the La Morena Vein target and four at other targets. Results have been received for 20 La Calandria Vein holes and two of the seven La Morena holes, with remaining assays pending.
