Capex depends on a number of things but the most costly items being the size of the Longwall and whether or not the seam/s suit top coal caving. 300m face Longwall set up - about $120million – rest of the infrastructure including drift development and associated ventilation etc etc rounds out at the balance of the Capex. Not sure where the numbers from the others are coming from - unless that are going to work multiple faces with 3-6 Longwalls then up the Capex accordingly. Either way underground Longwall mining Capex scares investors - so market of investors shrinks - when compared say to a surface mine where you can hire in the contractors to move dirt and get to the coal.
