From the excellent posts on HC it would appear that the medical applications of Gene Silencing are far too important to be delayed by beaurocracy. Can anyone please tell me what the rules are about using the technology on terminally ill patients, and if this is not allowed in Australia, where is it allowed?

I am not terminally ill, but if I was, I would happily put my hand up as a trial patient as I would have everything to gain and nothing to lose. I would also have the satisfaction of knowing I was doing something useful for mankind.
