It's not a scam, he wants time out, and the system doesn't provide it to those doing the powerless jobs. Like you've never taken a sickie or something equivalent? It's not a pattern of life with this person as he's shown by other posts. Get off your high horse, and stop pretending it's for his sake that you're advising him to go straight out and get another humiliating job.
