I lived in Malaysia for 4 years which is an extremely peaceful non-violent country and is 65% muslim. Saudi Arabia is also not torn by violence and it's 90% muslim.
In fact there's plenty of peaceful muslim countries.
Radicalism and fundamentalism are not as common in Islamic countries as you think. Many muslims are moderate or lax in their religion - same as with any other religion. Don't put them all in one basket - muslims are as diverse as any other religion. It's the extremists who have prominence these days that are the issue.
Of course muslims are consolidating - the West is forcing them into a paranoid extremist position, without realising what is happening.
