Why should the 60% of taxpayers who don't have degrees pay for the 40% who do?
I didn't know that.
What possible use could we make of all these [40%] educated idiots?
That figure shocks me and "proves" [to me] that it is all too easy to be a uni bludger. The vast majority of guys on the mines are NOT mining engineers or geologists. They are skilled/trained in whatever they do and never set foot in a uni, unless an educated idiot said they had to pay $500 for a "ticket" to do their trade. Seriously, I had to do an expensive course on how to use a "megger", one of my tools of trade.
