They would definitely become cheaper if newer versions got released. However this might be mitigated by just using smaller batteries so that it has negligibly better range anyway. Incremental improvements till pressure is upon them from competition then readily blow them out of the water.
I'm expecting Battery day will be about the battery tech and new factory, which will in turn allow them to start production on the Semi with acceptable range and service life vs ICE semi trucks. I assume this because the Tesla semi has been seen out and about doing delivery runs of model 3s.
