If it is only an option for a new or replacement roof and it costs less than tiles today, it is a no brainer. It sounds like a tough market to break into, but Musk has done that before so lets see what happens. I think it's a great development because it promotes the technology so well - beautiful, integrated and saves you money (and the planet!). I wonder what sort of energy is required to manufacture the glass tiles.

Dyesol's BIPV focus regarding roofing has been on steel, ala Colorbond, so this hasn't anything to do with what they are working on other than raising public awareness and getting people interested in Building Integrated PV. I can't imagine a factory or shopping centre covered in terracotta tiles. So I don't see this development as competition, more inspiration and hopefully a bit of a giddy up for RC and Co. !
