2020 is the year estimated to cause headaches with supply but you'd expect graphite to start making headlines before then, say around late 2018/early 2019 which means best time to start buying would be from later this year to mid 2018. That's my expectations anyway but I could be way off. There will always be mini pumps between then as well but it's best not to fall into that trap. Best time to buy is when the heat is off a certain commodity and best time to sell is when they're pumping it in the press.
You would expect some choice language in articles between now and the end of the year and late next year will be the doom and gloom headlines "GRAPHITE IN SHORT SUPPLY BY 2020!!!!@#$!!!"
