The point is, the range on electric cars is getting better and better each year. Only a few years ago, they used to go only about 100km on one charge. Next year Tesla is coming out with a car that can do 1,000km on one charge. Ten times are far.
Fair comment that they are better for city drivers atm, but it won't be long before you will be able to drive from Sydney to Perth on one charge.
