One day you will be able to charge a vehicle from home using stored power from solar panels that have been stored in off grid battery banks - FACT.

You can do that now, but why would you? You are losing energy at each exchange.

What I am saying is that the tech is NOT good enough to commit like the greenies are saying.

Tech has a long way to go to be on par, battery tech is poor & Lithium may be the go to battery for the next decade or so, but denser lighter batteries are on the way. Why spend money on infrastructure that will be obsolete in a generation.

Re the racing---the greenies keep banging their chest the RIGHT now the electric car is the way we ALL should be going.

The biggest bad assed Tesla can't even beat my 2l diesel Golf in the everyday usage field & highway running stakes...let alone going on a holiday out west towing.

If the R&D & product production was being done in Australia then that may be a different matter.

All we have is Aust dollar going overseas.

Cheap Chinese imports that will need replacement in next 10 years (barely scraping back the C02 it took to put them there in the first place.)

It's a treadmill we don't want to get on as we don't have the option to go cold turkey.
