Like the old song says "It ain't necessarily so"
It seems that there is no plug that is common to all thus it depends on what type of car you drive which dictates what sort of plug you need. Square plug in round whole, all that sort of thing. It seems that the manufacturers are not smart enough, as yet anyway, to agree on one and only one configured plug. It probably says "Tesla only" for a particularly good reason!
